Congratulations to the other bloggers mentioned in the article.

I’ve been interviewed 3-4 times and found it nerve-racking (preferring the thoughtfulness of writing over the spontaneity of speaking) . Rob Carrick of the Globe and Mail interviewed me for an article about term life insurance (Term Life Insurers Tailoring Policies To Your Health, July 17, 2001). Unfortunately, my name wasn’t mentioned

With me it’s not so much about revealing financial info, but that I’m a journalist. Occasionally, I cover financial stories and companies from an investing standpoint.

I haven’t really thought through all the implications but I figured to be safe I may as well go incognito. The last thing I need is for someone to question the objectivity of a story I write because of something on my blog or vice versa.

4P: I don’t find information you’ve posted so far all that personal either. For some reason, debt isn’t as much of a taboo as how much you have and how much you make. Co-workers freely talk about their mortgages. But I would never want them to know my net worth or how much income we bring in and I don’t think I ever posted that information.

That’s interesting CC – I wouldn’t mind letting friends & family in on the blog eventually even though I’ve already posted portfolio information and debts. I don’t find that info all that personal but we’ll see.

A huge part of my financial planning revolves around investments & debt so it would be hard for me to talk about all my analysis without using the real numbers.

4P: When I started blogging, I was mainly aiming to keep track of my finances like net worth, cash flow, portfolio etc., which would mean I should maintain strict anonymity. Somehow, I’ve never posted such details and I wonder why I should maintain a veil of secrecy.
