I was shopping at Costco today and the cashier gave out a brochure for an American Express credit card. I regularly use the American Express Air Miles card and the President’s Choice MasterCard, never carry a balance on both the no-fee cards and use them primarily for the rewards. All credit card solicitations get thrown in the junk where they rightly belong, but I am glad I paid more attention to the Costco brochure.

The American Express Costco Platinum credit card has a cash rebate feature that I think is very attractive. For purchases over $5,000, the card provides a cash rebate (in the form of rebate coupons redeemable at Costco) of 1.5%. Since the American Express Air Miles card has a rewards payout of 0.7% and the President’s Choice MasterCard pays 1%, I am going to apply for the Amex Costco card for its superior rebate program.
