I noted in my review of The Four Pillars of Investing that Dr. Bernstein recommends a few investing books very highly. Here is the list:

  1. A Random Walk Down Wall Street by Burton Malkiel
  2. Common Sense on Mutual Funds by John Bogle
  3. A Fool and His Money by John Rothchild
  4. Where are the Customers Yachts? by Fred Schwed
  5. Once in Golconda by John Brooks
  6. Devil Take the Hindmost by Edward Chancellor
  7. Bernard Baruch, Money of the Mind, Minding Mr. Market, The Trouble with Prosperity all by James Grant
  8. Capital Ideas by Peter Bernstein
  9. Winning the Loser’s Game by Charles Ellis
  10. Global Investing by Gary Brinson and Roger Ibbotson
  11. Asset Allocation by Roger Gibson

I have fully read just the first two books, so I have a bit of reading to do this summer. Fortunately, most of these titles are available at our local library.

Thanks for the list. I was going to ask you for it since I wasn’t planning on buying the book for a while since I just read it.

Just read Gibson’s Asset Allocation and agree that is worth buying, though it has serious flaws as I explain in my review on my blog. Thanks for the list.
