I noted in my review of The Four Pillars of Investing that Dr. Bernstein recommends a few investing books very highly. Here is the list:
- A Random Walk Down Wall Street by Burton Malkiel
- Common Sense on Mutual Funds by John Bogle
- A Fool and His Money by John Rothchild
- Where are the Customers Yachts? by Fred Schwed
- Once in Golconda by John Brooks
- Devil Take the Hindmost by Edward Chancellor
- Bernard Baruch, Money of the Mind, Minding Mr. Market, The Trouble with Prosperity all by James Grant
- Capital Ideas by Peter Bernstein
- Winning the Loser’s Game by Charles Ellis
- Global Investing by Gary Brinson and Roger Ibbotson
- Asset Allocation by Roger Gibson
I have fully read just the first two books, so I have a bit of reading to do this summer. Fortunately, most of these titles are available at our local library.

Thanks for the list. I was going to ask you for it since I wasn’t planning on buying the book for a while since I just read it.

Just read Gibson’s Asset Allocation and agree that is worth buying, though it has serious flaws as I explain in my review on my blog. Thanks for the list.
