1Q-2006 Report Card

April 2nd, 2006 · 1 Comment

The Sleepy Portfolio, a well-diversified portfolio that I use as a benchmark had a stellar quarter in which it advanced 6.67%. All asset classes except bonds advanced and Canadian (XIC and XMD) and International equities (XIN and EEM) were once again big winners.
According to Microsoft Money, our personal portfolios lagged the benchmark returning 3.3% over the quarter. If I exclude the 25% gain due to my participation in my employer’s ESPP program, the results would have been even poorer. The underperformance is largely due to a few small-cap value stocks that I expect to perform well over the long-term.
