With recent additions to our family, our 92 Honda Accord is starting to feel very cramped even during short family outings. So, I have started shopping for a van that fits the following criteria:
- Clean, well-maintained Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna
- Recent model with 50k - 100k clicks
- Private sale, so that I pay only 8% tax instead of 15%
Online resources that I find very useful:
- Canadian Driver magazine features Used Car Reviews and a guide to pricing used cars.
- The Canadian Red Book, available at local libraries provides a useful guide to retail prices.
- Autotrader lists dealer and private vehicles for sale.
I would also appreciate any comments or suggestions, as the last vehicle I purchased was more than seven years ago.

Ok, I know this reveals my American Ignorance, but when you say 50k-100k clicks, is that kilometers or miles? Since 100k km seems much more reasonable than 100k miles, although I’m sure a Toyota engine properly maintained would last long past that.
In my family’s experience, both Hondas and Toyotas are good, Toyotas tend to cost more but their engines can go forever. Have fun looking!

Jonathan: Clicks would be in Kilometres. I did buy my current Accord when it had close to 100k miles and it still runs great. Honda and Toyota have a well-deserved reputation for high quality.
