The Lazy Man’s Portfolio

January 13th, 2005 · 2 Comments

I’ve never heard of Ted Aronson, apparently a very successful money manager. Paul Farrell writes about Ted’s own personal investment strategy that posted gains of 15% in 2004 and 30% in 2003 in this CBS MarketWatch column (Registration Required). Ted’s secret: an oh-so-simple, buy-and-hold, diversified, asset allocation strategy invested mostly in Vanguard funds. As someone in the asset accumulation phase, I find it interesting that Ted doesn’t sell or trade but only adds new money to rebalance. I think Ted is another strong case in favour of asset allocation as opposed to concentrating on finding “winning stocks”.
